I am looking for, but cannot find, a global index fund/ETF that is overweight UK but is cheaper than Vanguard LS100 at 0.22%. Does anyone know of one?

Might be cheaper to get fund at 0.13 or lower, e.g. Hsbc ftse all world, or a Dev only, like fidelity p... Then get a UK tracker, blend to taste

I am about 50/50 active/passive with Fidelity World for most of the passive. VLS100 gives me a bit more UK plus emerging markets. If I switch to HSBC All World and add some UK All Share, I end up with more EM than I want (because I like most of my EM in active funds). 60/40 Fidelity/VLS100 gives me a good balance, but I just want a cheaper alternative for the VLS100.

I'd agree if the account valuation is high enough that 0.22% starts becoming expensive then go for a cheap global tracker (All World or 90% Developed / 10% Emerging Markets) with a dedicated home fund. FTSE100 or All Share trackers are super cheap however it's a market well suited to going for the FTSE250 or with an active manager perhaps using a conservatively leveraged investment trust with a quality portfolio, income smoothing and perhaps even a modest discount.

That way I have to own three index funds to get the extra EM and UK. I'd really like to keep it to two! PS I own an active UK smaller companies fund so just want a little bog standard FTSE100.Alexland said:I'd agree if the account valuation is high enough that 0.22% starts becoming expensive then go for a cheap global tracker (All World or 90% Developed / 10% Emerging Markets) with a dedicated home fund. If you want a cheap ftse 100 tracker you could go with HSBC FTSE 100 UCITS ETF (HUKX). Ongoing charge is 0.07% or ishares 100 UK Equity Index Fund. Ongoing charge is 0.06%0

So what I'm looking for is a cheaper way to get something close to the equivalent of 60% Fidelity Index World (cap weighted developed world) + 40% VLS100 (overweight UK) which together, by region, is:UK 11%Europe 14%N America 61%Japan 7%Emerging markets 3%Asia Pacific 4%.Spreadsheets out. On your marks, get set...0

Thanks Stargunner and adindas, but I'm not looking for UK fund. I'm looking for a global fund which is overweight UK to give me the overall portfolio I want (or something close to it).

VLS100 is not expensive and if that is what you want and you are not prepared to have more than 2 funds I would suggest that you just go with it.0 -
1) I dont see how a global index fund can be overweight UK. Surely by definition the standard weighting for the UK is that given by your chosen global index.aroominyork said:I am looking for, but cannot find, a global index fund/ETF that is overweight UK but is cheaper than Vanguard LS100 at 0.22%. 2) Why do you want a cheaper index fund? What is important is that the fund follows the index. If it does that its charges are irrelevent.2
