Default Credit Report Through no Fault of my own

Looking for any advice on my current situation. I've found my dream house, about to put my current home on the market and apply for mortgage in principle.... checked my credit file to find a default payment.
This is for mobile device, which I thought was coming out via DD. I have not received any correspondence through the company to make me aware of late payment etc.
The first time I knew about this was when I checked my credit report.
Mortgage broker has told me there is no way I'll get a mortgage now unless the default is resolved. I've wrote to the mobile company explaining the situation in hope they will remove this but if not the hopes of my dream home are long gone.
I've always had an excellent credit score - now its poor through no fault of my own.
Has any one else had similar or any any advise to get around this?
Thanks so much in advance

What made you think it was being paid by DD? Did you actually sign a DD mandate?0

Your credit score is irrelevant, a made up number, do not worry about it. What matters is what is on your credit report, a default is not a good thing to have though.sparkle256 said:I've always had an excellent credit score
What made you think it was being paid via Direct Debit? Was it previously and one month was somehow missed, had you cancelled the direct debit, only recently set up a direct debit? That is largely the key being of information here. Them not telling you does not negate the failure to pay or the default.sparkle256 said:This is for mobile device, which I thought was coming out via DD. They will remove the default if the default is either their fault (eg they did not collect the payment via direct debit, when they had previously), or if the default is an error (eg you closed the account, but they failed to process that correctly). There might be an outside chance that it will be removed as a gesture of goodwill if you have an ongoing relationship with them, but that is not likely.sparkle256 said:Mortgage broker has told me there is no way I'll get a mortgage now unless the default is resolved. Your ability to get a mortgage also depends on how long ago the default was, but if everything else is in good standing one default for a low amount will not stop you getting a mortgage, although it might make the interest rate a bit higher. Speak to a different/better broker, potentially one who deals with adverse credit, there are several on the mortgage board on here.
There are always other houses, if you miss this one there will be others, sort the issue if you can, if you cannot then move on, there will be better houses available in the future.sparkle256 said:if not the hopes of my dream home are long gone.0
