We reached the end of our first week and stayed within our food budget £95/100. We've overspent a on our entertainment budget £80/50 due to an impromptu day off work and meal out. We had planned ongoing out next wed but swapped it round because of having the day off work.  There's enough in the cupboards and freezer other than milk for the next week so hopefully that will be a minimal spending week. Son is 21 on the 26th so any leftover food money is going towards then as he has a five of his uni friends staying over. We've planned a bbq and drinks at home so shouldn't be too bad. We are travelling to two birthday parties this weekend so have a full tank of petrol but other than that we won't need any money. I bought the presents last month so that's OK.  August really feels like a long month and it's only the 5th....

hoping for a NSD today - other than a dog groom which has been booked in for weeks.  I'm not counting days where I've spent something that's been planned and budgeted for. For me a NSD is the days where I stay out of the shops (or off amazon) and avoid the 'top up shop' that turns from a pint of milk to a trolley full of 'necessary bargains'.  It's raining here so in fairness if it wasn't for having to take the dog out I wouldn't be stepping foot outside anyhow.

I'm going to spend the afternoon crocheting. I've a slipper sock for me to finish and then need to start on a pair for my son who's a big fan of cosy feet.  I feel a christmas present in the making :)
