Energy provider gone bust - ‘supposed’ debt

Hi
When I moved into my tenanted house in July 2020 I immediately moved gas and electricity provider which took 3 weeks.
I received a final bill from
the landlord’s provider in September to cover the usage between July-August and paid this on time. The bill was £41.
I am now being chased by a debt collection agency who tell me that Tonik Energy went bust in October 2020
and I owe over £150! This is the first time I have heard I owe anything; no calls, letters or emails in 12 months.
Ofgem’s assigned new provider cannot help as I left before Tonik went bust but the credit agency are hounding me with calls.
I am worried they are adding more onto this ‘supposed’ debt with each passing day.
I have contacted Ofgem who tell me to contact my provider but I cannot (erm…they went bust) and I am going around in circles.
What should I do?
Many thanks!
