Business Interruption Claim - No Win No Fee Company?

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and have searched through looking for some advice regarding a rejected Business Interruption Claim but haven't had much luck in finding anything...

Like many others my claim was declined way back in April of last year; despite being told initially over the telephone that we were 'one of the lucky ones' and 'definitely covered for this' The NFU have since refused to pay out advising us that as the 'event' was not within a 5 mile radius we are not covered - this doesn't seem right at all given that the lockdown was a national lockdown which included my area, as it did the rest of the country... has anyone had a similar experience with the same insurance provider?

I have been searching the web almost daily trying to find a company that will represent us on a no win no fee basis, but am unable to find anything that I feel is trustworthy - are there any companies in particular that anybody could recommend?

Many thanks in advance.

  • Hi sheramber,

Hadn't seen this actually - the calculator could be of use: thank you!

  • Hi all,

Having checked the above calculator that sheramber linked me to, it would seem that there were no cases of COVID-19 within a one mile radius of my premises...

I am still struggling to understand why my policy does not cover me, as it states:

'WE will pay for loss of INCOME arising from an incident in the immediate vicinity or within a one mile radius of the PREMISES where access is hindered or prevented by the action of any civil or statutory authority or by order of the government or any public authority'

The INCIDENT that is being referred to here as the reason that access was prevented was a NATIONWIDE lockdown - and yet it would seem that they are able to claim that it did not affect the immediate vicinity of my premises; I would argue if this were the case, we could have remained open and operating, but that is not the case...

I would still be very interested to speak with a company that could take on my case on a no win no fee basis, if anyone knows of any?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Aidan.
