Can I get late payment marker removed?

A few years ago after a relationship breakdown I got into a bit of trouble with missed payments. One of which was a personal loan from nationwide. I arranged a payment plan adding a little extra onto the monthly payment every month and caught up enough that it was paid off on time. But they have marked 2 months last year as late payment when I paid the agreed amount which was the monthly payment plus the extra I’d agreed to pay on top.

Is there anyway I can ask for these to be removed As I’ve worked so hard to get on top of and pay off 3/4 of my debt now. With these 2 late payments removed I would have 2 years of no late payments then. I just feel it’s unfair as I paid what I’d agreed with them which was actually more than the monthly payment amount.
Now I’ve picked myself up and back on my feet I’d love to buy a house again once my ex partner buys me out of ours so really trying to keep my credit file clean.

Thanks for any advice

Highly unlikely. The markers aren't unfair, as the reflect the fact you missed payments, nothing more.

But it's unclear whether the markers are in the correct months. How many months were you in arrears and from when?

I just feel it’s unfair as I paid what I’d agreed with them which was actually more than the monthly payment amount.

The key issue is that you failed to maintain your payments in accordance with the contractual terms. By not doing so the lender incurred considerable additional cost in supervising your account.  Your credit history is therefore an accurate reflection of events. By not doing so again then your credit history will progressively improve and the data will eventually fall off your file entirely.
  • I totally understand the initial markers as I missed 3 months and do not dispute those at all. But these 2 missed payment markers are 12 months later, after they had marked some months on time and I was paying the agreed amount, which was my monthly payment plus extra. It just seems unfair that I was doing my best to get back on a level and I was making the payments on time.

If the agreed amounts are still bringing you under the contractual sum, there should be late payments every month.

You may want to ask them to backdate a default.
  • Ok. I guess I’ll just have to suck it up. There’s just 2 random late payment markers out of the 3 years. The loan is paid off so I guess that’s all that matters
