Help please! Around a month ago I received a letter from Lowell finance claiming the have bought my account from npower and I have a debt owed to them for 12/3/18-11/4/18 for £163, problem here is that this actually went to the ombudsman in 2019, this is the second time npower have sold my details on to a debt collector and back in 2019 the ombudsman sorted it all out wrote off nearly all of the balance, made npower apologise you me for their absolute non existent customer service and that was the end of it, I paid up my £11 balance in August 2019 and case closed! I’ve contacted Lowell finance and told them this, I’ve also contacted the ombudsman who also say it’s closed and as far as they are concerned it doesn’t make any sense but the guy at ombudsman didn’t really know what else to suggest as it’s closed! I also contacted eon next and they are saying they can’t even find any details of any debt I may or may not of owed..... so I have today received another letter from Lowell finance stating they have looked into what I told them but they believe I still owe the £163 debt (which doesn’t exist) what can I do about this?

Hi we have also out of the blue, recieved a letter from Lowells for our previous property. The letter stated we have an outstanding debt of £513. The problem is prior to recieving this letter Npower has never written to us about an outstanding balance. Lowells have only contacted us from last week. The debt in question is from 16/09/2016 to 3/10/2016!! for the inital amount £12.60.
I have contacted Lowells who said they were sold this debt by Npower this year just before Npower becoming part of Eon. The guy I spoke to from Lowells also said not sure where the £513 amount has come from and agreed to reduce to £12.60. Although im relieved that they have reduced the price, I feel really annoyed that in all those years Npower not once communicated that we owed them money. My second concern is what if they have made a mistake and just making these debts up which were sold to Lowells. As was the case few years ago when EDF wrongly sold debts to Lowells. Ive tried getting to the bottom of it, rang Eon who can"t help as accounts from Npower closed. Lowells just stating that they been sold the debt and can't help much apart from reducing the price. I have paid the £12.60 even though it is a small amount, I feel annoyed that I've paid for something for no reason at all and just the lined the pockets of Lowells and the defunct company Npower with no accountability.0 -
I have proof that there is no outstanding debt in the form of a letter from npower from 2019 stating after the “good will” credit the were made to add by the ombudsman was deducted the final balance was £10 which was paid in full, I rang Lowell and demanded an email contact, which took some doing as they just kept asking me questions and I kept saying I would put it in writing with a copy of said letter if they would just give me an email address to contact! So that’s what I’ve done, I have no doubt that won’t be the end of it but I’m not paying anything when I have written evidence that npower have once again cocked up here!0

If you have proof there is no debt, write to them with a copy of that proof and request they erase your data in accordance with GDPR.Also complain to Npower pointing out that there was no debt and that they have illegally sold your data requesting they make it right.0
