BT overcharging

I have been with BT for quite a few years now and in all that time they have a agreed a price and then when I get my first bill it is always more than they quoted. Every time I query the bill they argue for a while and then after going to the ombudsman and winning my case I get an apology. Then for the next few bills I get a minus figure until all my money has been refunded. I have just renewed my contract and was given a price of £39.99, with an email to verify what the price is. But sure enough my next two monthly bills have been over £45. Now the question is, do they do this to all their customers. If they do then unless people actually check their bills every month BT must be making a fortune in overcharging. I will be calling them this week to discuss the overcharge and let you know how I get on. Please let me know if anyone else has the same problem with BT please.

What are you paying £40 for? What product? Sounds expensive, you can get all in for about £28.

I have been with BT for more than 10 years and in all that time they have agreed a price and the billing has been spot on. After one renewal an item had been excluded but this was rectified before the first bill was issued.
So no, they are not deliberately overcharging all their customers. I would hope that most customers of any utility company would check their monthly bills (especially those who are subscribers to MSE) so that any problems can be rectified quickly, especially around contract changes.
Don't think it's possible to comment on the cost of your package, there are many combinations of Landline, Broaband, Sport, TV, HD, UHD, Sky etc available and you may have negotiated a discount over the advertised prices.1 -
I am paying more than £40 for a similar package minus the calls .In answer to the OPs question no they don't overcharge everybody .0
