I want to try and transfer a credit card debt to a 0% card. When applying I am asked about my employment status. I am a full-time unpaid carer for my wife and we receive benefits. There is no "carer" box to tick in the employment status section. Does anyone know how to get around this, or do I accept the fact that because I receive benefits I won't be eligible for a balance transfer. TIA.

As you have said you are an unpaid carer I am not sure that carer would be the correct box to tick anyway. I am my dad's unpaid carer but I never select it when choosing employment status - he can be left alone but has limited mobility so I am able to work.

I don't know if there would be any mileage in making the role official.
