I think my home is a Miller home.
Although it's from the early 2000's and the previous owners renovated it from head to toe so there's no trace of the original workmanship.
Which makes this post totally useless. You'e welcome

I would guess the workmanship is pretty similar between all the big boys. Its all the same kind of guys subbing. I'd be looking for the homebuilder with the best rated after sales service if new home shopping - alternatively a smaller independent builder1

I agree. The building regulations are the same for everyone, and we know all these developers have the main goal of cutting costs as much as possible so yeah, the quality of the workmanship is basically the same.oz0707 said:I would guess the workmanship is pretty similar between all the big boys. - We rented one for 6 months and apart from the fact that it was 4 bedroom and the kitchen was the size of a shoebox we didn’t have any problems. We were the first occupants.

I've done some consulting lot for a lot of different developers. Miller are among the better ones, imo.1

It’s the aftersales that most of the low scores are for. Their customer service dept doesn’t seem to get back to a lot of people to resolve issues. People seem to be waiting months if not years to resolve snagging issues. Some seem to just give up and sort the issues themselves. I thought Persimmon would be worse but they seem to have slightly better aftersales service.oz0707 said:I would guess the workmanship is pretty similar between all the big boys. I went to view one recently - fully built but unsold (maybe a cancellation). Was very unimpressed with the quality of fixtures and fittings, everything looked and felt cheap. It was a 4 bedroom house but the communal areas simply weren’t big enough for a family home. The layout of the garden/garage was annoying too.
The deciding factor was the large area of black mould in the understairs storage cupboard…
All in all not good enough quality given the price tag and having a water leak so soon after build does not look good.2 -
I almost ended up buying a persimmon home that was 4 years old.Holmes21 said:

When I heard "persimmon" chills ran down my spine, although after speaking with the seller, I felt a bit reassured. Apparently the problems with new homes come up in the first couple of years when the house settles. Also, Persimmon contracted out their after sale service, which is why it was fairly good and drastically improved over the years.
Still, I didn't buy that property but for other reasons.1
