I heard a rumour yesterday from a friend about a new charge on a halifax credit card.If you dont use your card for 6 months a £12 fee will be charged to your account .Was he imagining this or has it been in the news?

Actually, it's if you don't use your card for 12 months (from memory), you will be charged a £25 dormancy fee as it costs the bank money to keep the account open and running. If this applies to you, I believe a letter was sent a few months ago. To get around it, you have to spend at least £50 for the next 3 months on the card to avoid the fee.

Yes. I believe they will send a letter saying along the lines of, "We intend to charge you as you have not used the card, if you want to avoid this, please use your card for at least £X for the next Y months."Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34
