This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning! Why am I up at this ungodly hour? No clue except it's been quite warm upstairs even with the curtains closed all day and then opened again when it cools down [ha!] at night. And this is why I want cooling and heating on whatever heating system we have. OH true to his word, dug out my little patch of grass and I covered it, and then spent an hour or two riddling at this same ungodly hour yesterday morning, but all plants have now been potted up and on and are sorted until next year except two I don't know what to do with so they'll go in the front garden where everything I don't know what to do with ends up. And oddly, nearly all of it is purple or blue...Today I'll give OH a lift to work if he wants one, more riddling while it's still cool, and then collapse in a sweaty heap for the rest of the day I think. At least the excercise is contributing to the diet, 22lb gone so far..I wish I could say the heat is making me not eat but that woudn't be true, but what would be true is you wouldn't believe the uses for zero fat yoghurt there are out there, nor tinned plain beans [not in tomato sauce unless homemade, that's the devils work...

Gers, continued well dones. It's funny isn't it that not using or seeing something for a while makes you wonder exactly why you needed it in the first place or helps with the contnuing decluttering saga we all seem to be going through. Scarlet, hearing too much!::snort:: Rosy, hope the artisan market was fun, that's one thing you can never have too much of, nice food! Ruby, I like to think of it as Freedumb day...Hope you're taste is coming back, I sympathise, that's just awful, especially if you like your food. Csarina, well done on your greenhouse building, sometimes even with the instructions it's like krypton factor origami....Nanny, feet up indeed after the last few weeks! I hope you're all keeping tolerably in this weather, I wish you many ice creams if not....Take care!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -
Morning everyone
taff - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dry, but sun rising and warm start to the day already.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, was lovely. Dinner tonight will be either gammon, LO roast or chicken - so may well chose depending on how I feel when I get in from work after being on leave for the past 2 weeks! Something very easy or something a bit more involved!
I don't know how work will be, so we'll see, but it is holiday time and I know several colleagues were off at the same time. We'll see!
Keep safe and well x

Good morning folks. Thanks for the cheery start Taff - losing 22lb is magnificent, well done. 🎉True to myself I didn't do any sorting / clearing yesterday. I mostly sat around, wandered in the garden and sat to watch the birds. At one point I just sat in my garden seat, listened to the siskins squabbling and didn't move for about 10 minutes. I also had a long afternoon sleep, something I don't normally do.Of course, there's always a price to pay for such sloth. All that needs to be done is weighing heavily on me just now, especially in Glasgow. It's the timing of getting everything out. I have a plan now which is an improvement on no plan.Yesterday was mostly dull with a nippy wee wind apart from a brief break in the cloud which is when I did my garden wander. The hookeri are starting to bloom, their bright yellow fluffy flowers are just a delight.Today I'll be doing some pottering before going back down the road later this afternoon unless I change my mind and leave the journey until early tomorrow morning. No idea yet!I hope that the poorlies are on the mend a bit. Happy Monday to all.13

Morning folks and thanks TAFF for the early start. I had a rubbish night too thanks to the weather. It was still 23 deg outside when I went to bed, I tossed and turned getting warmer and warmer. I kept thinking I should go down for the fan but couldn't summon up the effort. I shall have it ready and waiting tonight!
No plans for today but I must go out and water all the pots at the back first job before the sun gets round on them. I should have done it last evening but heat stopped play! This weather tires me out just thinking about jobs! DS said he would call after work this afternoon to cut the wayward front hedge. It's usually a Sunday morning job but he had double cricket this weekend. Young chap next door must despair when he looks out at my front garden as he keeps his immaculate. He is forever out mowing, watering and keeping all the plants in check.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, woeful and those convalescing. TAFF well done on the loss! I won't be reporting any losses as I have been on a Cornetto and Vienetta diet throughout the heatwave! Take care one and all and stay safe xx.

Morning all,
Many thanks for the warm welcome backs yesterday.
Like most, I was up a lot in the night with the heat, plus I was sick again .... not sure if it’s a bug or something I am eating triggering it. So it will be another day sitting and crocheting.
I really do have the most uninspiring posts, sorry! If I do anything remotely interesting I will report back.
Take care all.

Morning All
Beautiful morning but it's going to be hot! Yesterday was mainly cloudy and positively cool compared to previous days, was lovely to sit out with friends and not bother about being burned though.
I'm off to the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh today, have a picnic ready so all set for a good day. It's a bit of a hike from here but should be worth it.
Well done on the weight loss -taff.
Seems like you are starting to relax Gers, that country air is doing you good.
Have a good Monday, thinking of the poorlies and those not posting. Take care. XX12 -
Good morning, another sunny start! It turned grey and coolish yesterday evening, it was a bit of a respite from the heat.Welcome back NMLC, hope work goes well.Hi Peony, hope your stomach is better. I find Youtube to be a great help, I've made a few things with the computer beside me, and someone telling me what to do next.Well, I went to Sp8csavers about my hearing aids - bear in mind I don't order batteries from the shop, I order from an administrative department about 15 miles away. Long story short, the lady I saw in the shop seemed a bit bemused when I told her my story, and said most people who had been issued with the new blue tooth aids were using more batteries, it wasn't just me!! I suppose the other dept that supplies them doesn't know about the technicalities of hearing aids! Anyway she gave me some to tide me over, and said I would get some more in the post. That was my excitement for yesterday - today's excitement will be going to Du*elm to look at cushion covers.DP1 hope you will have a great time, see you later in the week.TA, glad you got some bargain Flowerbomb, it's lovely. You've done so well to lose 22lb Taff, whoo hoo!Dumpling, hope your leg is more comfortable today.Ruby, hope you and the family are improving a bit, you've had an awful time.Gers, you're doing so well, nearly there now. Then you can settle back into your own home.Thoughts to our poorly paople and those struggling with life - take care folks.12

Good morning everyone
I shall be on tenterhooks today as my sister is waiting to go down for her operation this morning. She has messaged us all and sounds to be still amazingly cheerful and positive. It will be at least 10 hours on the operating table and then obviously she will be in recovery before going into intensive care. How I hope this is successful.
Slept a fair bit last night but the heat kept waking me up on and off. I am definitely not built for hot weather but it is nice to see the sunshine. Another day of moving little and drinking lots.
The district nurse is coming to dress my leg today. I hope she is gentle as it is still very painful. Steve's dressing has stayed put and is still comfortable so that has been great.
Gers, it sounds idyllic in your garden, just the last bit to go now and you will be home for good xx
22lb Taff, that's amazing, well done xx
I hope your poor tum is feeling better today Peony xx
I'm glad you got more batteries Scarlet, now, no more hearing too much! xx

Morning all. So far today it's slightly cooler but I still have the fan going downstairs.
Our patio people are on their last day but still need to source and collect some sleepers, do the edging blocks and all the grouting so lots going on. Apparently we then have to wait approx 6 weeks before it can be sealed, so that will be mid September I guess.
We unfortunately have a pork joint that needs eating today so will suffer roast potatoes etc to go with it! Well done to Taff on the amazing weight loss; I'm envious but not quite envious enough to get on and do it for myself!
Have a good day everyone and stay cool.12
