Roof valley repair

An old friend now runs his own roofing business. I had a roof valley that was damaged & leaking, so I called him. He initially quoted £700, but this would entail half a days work, hiring a tower etc. On the day, he was here for less than an hour & just brought his ladder. This is a repair job, rather than a replacement. He’s now asking for £500. For a quick repair job that took less than an hour, this seems a lot to me. Also, I asked him for before and after photos as proof he’s done it, and he didn’t take any. Any thoughts, please?
Toto, something tells me we're not in Kansas anymore......
