Smart meter display problem

We had smart meters fitted last month - I unplugged the display for reasons of needing the power socket this afternoon
On plugging it back in - the display unit has decided to fail on the gas display - electricity came straight back on
I have tried playing with the menu options but can't see how to restore gas display - it's so far taken an hour +
Gas shows ******
Android app " BRIGHT" works fine on both gas and electricity
Any idea how long it should take?

You have no control over what information is passed to the IHD via the Home Area Network. Pressing menu buttons on the IHD will achieve nothing other than change what is displayed. I would leave it alone overnight and check again in the morning. What you are experiencing is not unusual: providing consumers with an IHD was an afterthought and in my opinion a very poorly thought through solution.1

When it was originally set up (last month) - it sorted itself out within 10 minutes[Deleted User] said:You have no control over what information is passed to the IHD via the Home Area Network. Welcome to smart metering. Over the last 2 years, I have had days when the IHD has just gone into a constant on/off loop. I have even had ‘Gas meter Disconnected’ messages on the IHD. My IHD also refuses to show the gas daily standing charge: this has been the case for the past 2 years. I am now on my second set of SMETS2 meters and possibly looking at a further electricity meter change as Octopus cannot receive 30 minute data. Smart metering is a great idea but the rollout in the UK has been appalling and unnecessarily complex.0

I am confused - do the IHD6 have rechargeable batteries in them or am I running on the dregs of a non-rechargeable ?Yesterday - it died - telling me that it was out of juice yet today (after being plugged in overnight) - it is running fine on battery power !0

They do have a rechargeable battery, but it is very small. You can see the battery state in the top right of the screen, it is just to the left of the wifi strength symbol (if you are using the wifi)0

Quote: We recommend that you always leave your in-home display plugged into the electricity mains. Don't rely on the built-in rechargeable battery. It will only last for up to four hours between charges. Unquote1 -
That explains it - thanks[Deleted User] said:
