Many thanks for all the advice. Can I claim for ESA and child tax credits at the same time ? If so and I put in a claim for ESA and for whatever reason decided to discontinue it, would this affect my child tax credits.I really appreciate your help with this, very kind of you all0

Yes, you can claim NsESA and tax credits. NsESA is taxable income but if you stopped claiming it won't affect your child tax credits, they will continue.

OP, bear in mind that the eligibility for non-means tested NsESA is based on NI contributions in the last 2 tax years.

It is not uncommon for people to draw on savings, only to discover at a later date that a NsESA claim can no longer be made since they now don't satisfy those NI contribution criteria.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.3 -
Although, in this case, if OP has just been made redundant they hopefully meet the conditions for 2019-20 and 2020-21 which would allow them to claim in 2022.
However the general point is very important. It is sad to see people who have exhausted all other means before looking at what help is available.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.3 -
Thanks very much everyone. What knowledgeable, fantastic folk you really are. I appreciate your time and expertise

This ^^ we see a lot of this here. People think that because they have the means to support their self they can "manage." OP please consider claiming the ESA even if it's for a short period of time.

Hi, I decided to try a claim for new ESA, on the application it asks what date i would like the claim to start, to which I put tommorow,,it says the sick note must include this date. However on the website ( before you apply ) it says you can self certify for the first 7 days, so I am confused when to ring the doctors.I suppose I should ring tommorrow to be safe. Thanks again for everyones help and advice, cheers
