It has been very wet where I live and everything is sodden. Well done for keeping out of the shops, every day counts as a saving. We have bought some potatoes and tea bags today, having run out of both because I deliberately didn’t stock up before Christmas. I want to use up some of the vegetables and fruit in the freezer but it feels strange not to have any more fresh in yet. I used the last fresh vegetables yesterday making two big batches of soup. I have two apples, four lemons, a clementine and an orange remaining! My breadmaker often turns out differently shaped loaves and we can never work out why when the flour and yeast are the same. Having received far too much sweet stuff for Christmas I won’t need to bake for a while. Perversely I just fancy doing some!0

Moorviews - I've decided to keep my bread maker for the time being, as I only eat about one small loaf a month and I can put up with wonky loaves, I think the money can be better used£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund1

Well it snowed quite a bit in the night so I was unable to make the journey to my youngest dds to collect the dgs from school (I hate driving in the snow due to an unfortunate incident that happened years ago). When I got in touch with her one of the dgds had been told that school had been closed so she was at home all day as well, luckily she is old enough to look after herself whilst mum works from home in her office. Hopefully the snow will be melted and gone in a couple of days.
Not a lot has been happening, I've carried on knitting the jumper, it has a pattern of 4 rows, its not difficult at all but I keep making a mess of it, so I'll be glad to get it finished, I like the colour but not the feel of the wool so I'll have to see what it's like on before I decide what to do with it!
So that's about it for today, oh the garden centre where I have my free coffees, is having the cafe refurbished this month and isn't opening until February so I won't be going for my coffeeI won't be losing them but I must admit I was looking forwards to going there for my free treats this month.

Hi everyone
Well my life at the moment seems very dull and slow, but at least I'm not spending any money!
I went into the city today to sort my internet out and collect our pottery painting efforts, both were achieved and then I went to the bus station and came home, once upon a time, not that long ago I'd spent hours going around the shops and having a coffee somewhere, but as most of the big shops have shut and I don't want to spend I seem to quite happy to come straight home!! So when I got in I took the pooch a walk, made tea and and had an easy night reading a bit.
Lunch was a cheese omelette and tea was a veggie risotto! I do seem to eat at least one risotto a week, its a good job I really enjoy them

I don’t find the shops very tempting at the moment. Whether the change is the shops, or me, I don’t know. Probably a bit of both! Everything seems to look the same these days and going through self service tills feels rather dispiriting too. I look forward mostly to getting home and having a cup of tea!You are doing well with the savings though and with finding rewarding things to do at home. I am enjoying getting on with some sewing and putting everything back in order post Christmas. Also, on my third book this year so I am getting on well with that.4

Lord_Mattenly - Thank you, slow and steady is the way to go, especially as I have to be careful with what I have to work with.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund4

Well just the normal hoovering, washing, dusting etc done. The jumper is finished and put away for future use and the dog has been enjoying his walks, mind you he had to have a shower when he came in today as we'd been over the fields and he went into a puddle that was muddy and sunk up to his belly!!! and he just stood there
he was covered in thick mud!!! Anyway he had a shower as soon as we came in which he didn't seem to mind, so now he is all fluffed up and smelling lovely!!!
Tomorrow I'm going to youngest dds to sit for her as her mother in law is not feeling at all well and usually has youngest dgd for the day, so I'm stepping in - yayWhen youngest went back to work after maternity leave I decided this time I wouldn't sit dgd for a day a week, as I felt I was getting on too old and I didn't want to drive in the bad weather, but I don't mind standing in occasionally as long as there is no snow about!! Its more or less all gone from where I live, just the odd pocket but its all thawing now, hence the muddy walks! So dgd and I will be walking into her local town as its market day for a look around, she usually has a sleep in the buggy whilst we are out and misses quite a bit of it though
So I'd better get off to bed, as I will have to get to their house early as she has a meeting first thing so I can't be late (she works from home).
