British Airways voucher

Hi everyone. I purchased a British Airways Flexi fare flight through last minute.com for a flight to New York in May 2021. Because of restrictions I was unable to fly but the flight wasn't cancelled. Before the flight I spoke with last minute who said the flight was nonrefundable (which I knew when buying it) but I could get a BA travel voucher. I received an email from last minute saying I should contact BA so I went on their website to claim the voucher. All good - the website said my voucher was being processed and would arrive in 7 days. No voucher arrived so I contacted BA who said they couldn't issue the voucher because the request had to come from last minute.com. I phoned last minute and they said they would request the voucher. By this time the flights had come and gone. Because my voucher had not been claimed it was showing on the BA app as a 'no show' so last minute now say BA won't issue the voucher! Its very confusing - I have been passed back and forth between BA and LM who both tell me it is the others fault. I'm not sure who to pursue for this or what to do next. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

your contract was with Lastminute and they are the customer that BA would deal with
BA site shows - "If you booked via a travel agent, please contact them directly to discuss cancelling your booking."
unfortunately you chose to book with a poor third party, maybe see if they have a complaints department re them giving you incorrect information

I find it absolutely baffling people booking with third parties during an ever changing aviation market.
  • Particularly for a “flexi-flight” where even if not cancelled you may have to contact them to make any changes and potentially pay them a fee.
  • Thank you. I know I made a mistake booking this way but had thought this forum would be helpful. Your comments  are useful only in making me feel like an absolute idiot. We're not all perfect unfortunately and some of us make mistakes! I didn't think there would be a problem booking through a third party but it's obviously not something I'll do again.

There’s nothing that can really be added after the first post about what you can do. All you can do is make a complaint to last minute.

We all make mistakes. It is important to learn from though. Personally I think highlighting the problems in using a 3rd party to make your booking is helpful for future flight bookings you may make or for anyone else who reads the thread and not aware of the problems they may cause themselves by booking trough a 3rd party.
