Is the Resolver PPI reclaim tool leaking information?

We’ve we’ve only used the Resolver Tool to reclaim PPI and yet my husband has received a demand from HD Law demanding payment for services for a PPI claim.
Having read here that others are experiencing the same issues I’m wondering how this company has accessed the information about claims, and whether somehow the Resolver Tool is leaking information?
The advice has been to complain to HD Law and then the Legal Ombudsman to deal with the payment demand, but this doesn’t address the issue of how the company accessed the information in the first place?

Hmmm, treading on dangerous ground there, resolver is part owned by MSE, why do you think Martin Lewis is always promoting it !!

How HD Law has interpreted your complaint as a request to act on your behalf is anyone's guess, information is bought and sold all the time, its big business, how that would translate in your case I don`t know.

You appear to know the drill regarding your next step, I'm unsure if you can complain about an internet tool, I assume you can, and if so that would be my next step.

Good luck with it, but I can`t provide any more specific answers unfortunately.

Resolver does sell your data but only on an aggregated basis.  Not an individual basis.  It does not pass any data to third party claims companies.

You are barking up the wrong tree with resolver.

I’ve responded to your other post on the HD law thread with what is my best guess at what’s happened with you.

contact the lender where you had a complaint made to and ask them on which authority they handled the complaint (I.e. did they receive the CMC’s DSAR/complaint first or yours through resolver?

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y

    they're - 'they are'

It could be entirely possible that HD Law have no information from Resolver, or anyone else.  Could they just be sending claims at random referencing Resolver?  Some of those messages will be received by people that did use Resolver and think there may be some validity, or that HD Law somehow gained some information, when it was pure chance.

As brettcta has said on the other post, it's quite possible they signed up on facebook or similar for a "free PPI check" or whatever, entering a contract with the claims firm.
