Not tried any online ones yet but I know years ago some differed in how easy they were to send in the info.

Thanks for understanding - have had ME for 25 yeasr so do not want to catch anything that may debilitate me even more! I was even a bit wary of having the jab at first as my health meant I wasn't likely to be meeting many anyway but hubby does visit his mum lately.

Really not difficult. Just copy exactly the numbers on the prescription paying particular attention to the + and - signs!

What the prescription won't tell you is your PD (distance between you eyes). So unless you know this or can get your other half to measure it for you (plenty of instructions online) you will either have to accept an average figure or send in an old pair of glasses for the supplier to measure using a special instrument. Most / all are happy to do that.

I think with 2 million + with long covid it is just as bad as we think it is.

We did travel out for the jabs - but I would think that was more essential than an optical or dental check up.
Perhaps you should consider placing more valis on your sight?. IIRC Opticians appointments have been considered essential travel throughout the pandemic.

Problem is if you want a pair covered by the NHS you will need a GOS3.

A GOS3 is only given on a change of prescription not for loss/damage to specs the NHS expects adults to pay privately for these.

You're best bet is to wait until the 2 years are up and then book in with an optician who will probably be able to issue a GOS3.

You are not entitled to a home visit unless unable to physically leave your home unaccompanied their were no relaxation of guidance on the basis of who was isolating during COVID pandemic as opticains are healthcare premesis

So I guess it boils down to paying for a pair via the internet or going into an opticans if you want a pair covered by the NHS

thanks kirtondm.  I think we would both qualify for a home visit with my own and hubby's health so will probably book a visit and get it all sorted for a year or two again then.
