Car insurance possible cloned car

hello,
I recieved a text yesterday from my insurance company, with an update on my claim, which I haven’t made, so I logged in via my portal on a different device, just to be safe, and it says on my account my claim for an accident in April has been logged. There are no other details yet, as I think it’s only just been added, but I have not had an accident. I have owned the car from new, collected from a main dealer, about 3 years ago, so I am confident that my car isn’t a cloned vehicle, but possibly there is a cloned one somewhere else.
The insurance company are closed until Monday, so I will have to wait to call them, but has anyone had similar issue?
thanks

Have dealt with many similar claims back in the day. Occasionally its a cloned plate but more often its poor handwriting/photo of a registration plate or a typing issue.
They'll just ask where you, your named drivers and the vehicle was around the time of the alleged incident and if you can provide any evidence of that. After that they may want to see a photo of the car and/or you/your NDs to confirm no damage or to compare you against a description of a driver.
Unfortunately they can take a few months to resolve but more often than not after a bit of pushing back the third party insurer just drops it.1 -

I managed to speak to the insurance company, and they have told me that the allegation is that I pulled out of a side street and into another car, but I failed to stop. But this was supposedly in April. Plus it’s nowhere near where I live, probably a good 100 miles away.
They have said they may need to send an inspector round to view the car to see if there is any damage, or repaired damage, which I 100% told them is ok, and as I have owned the car from new, it has never had any repairs.
The advisor said it is now down to the third party insurer to prove it was me, which it wasn’t, but the annoying thing is that I am now on some sort of register that I have been in an accident and have to declare it if I need new insurance, luckily my car and work van have recently been insured, but if any of them were due for renewal it would cost me more and my no claims would be affected aswell, what happened to being innocent until proven guilty.
next concern is, should I inform the police, as the allegation is failed to stop at an accident, and as my details, wether mistakenly or fraudulently, have been given to an insurance company who In turn contacted mine, surely the police would also be notified, so should I get there first, before they knock on my door.

With advice from insurer, I contacted the police in the area the accident supposedly happened, but I think it’s more for the reason of a possible cloned plate. At least if I start to get speeding fines etc then I have some backup logged with them.
They have raised a suspicious incident and informed the local police in the area, so now just got to wait to see what the insurance companies do.0 -
If you can prove that your vehicle was somewhere else at the time of the alleged incident then providing this to your insurer would be advisable rather than just waiting..All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0
