Salcombe is lovely. It does have a rather upmarket feel and is not a typical British seaside town - all the better for it!
Ha ha I'm with you there - I remember when I first took my partner to St Ives and it was grey and raining and we walked past the small arcades there and she wasn't blown away. Give it a couple of days to get used to the place and she was!
Yeah, too many candyfloss/arcade/kiss me quick tat can stay in the 70s and 80s as far as I'm concerned!
I'm thinking back to a SC stay in Wales a few years ago where we discovered it was very rural. The roads were single track with ditches either side and wandering sheep. We decided it would be safer to go out for the day, eat out at lunch time and have a simple supper at the house later, after dark.
