23 year old credit card debt

in Credit cards
23 years ago life was in crisis. I built up lot of credit debt which couldn't pay. Made agreement with bank to repay 2£ week which I can't recall I ever paid. I co-owned a house at time in negative equity and I signed an agreement with the bank that in the events of selling the house I would repay however I was not in the position to deal with all this and signed the whole house legally over to my co-owner therefore the bank never got anything.
I moved house 23 years ago and and have never received anything from them since and I've had numerous credit cards and a mortgage since.
So my question is is whether they could pursue this from me now. And if I were to apply to that particular bank for a credit card or account would they still have this on record after all these years. ?
I am a little unclear as to where this stands in regards to the statues limitation law.
I would be most grateful for any advice people can give on this issue.

If you've not acknowledged it in 6 years, and they don't have a CCJ, it will be statute barred. However, some lenders may still have a record of your previous interactions with them1

I've never seen a ccj. And passed credit check for mortgage 7 years after .

I think even lenders own records would struggle to stretch back 23 years.
As above, the debt was statute barred a very long time ago, the limitation act see`s too it, that we are not punished forever for our past mistakes, its likely you will never hear about it again.
Occasionally records are kept that long, but it depends on luck to a great extent, some clerk cleaning out the files room for instance, but for the most part, I would say you`d be OK on this one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. 6 year limitation with normal debts eg credit cards, loans etc.
12 year limitation with mortgages.
They've not pursued you, it's history and you can put it behind you.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear it in 2026.1 -

Just remember internal black lists exist.
They will almost certainly not pursue you for the old debt but equally are within their rights to refuse to provide service to you for your previous actions1
