Changed terms after payment

Hi.
I placed an order for £65 worth of makeup and brushes on a well known website (Morphe) for a friend's birthday present which is in 3 weeks.
The terms on their website state that due to covid, please allow an extra 5 days for delivery.
I am fine with that as the birthday is 3 weeks away which is plenty of time.
However, 3 days after paying for the items, I received an email saying I now need to wait an extra 10 days for delivery *because covid*.
Again, this is annoying but still within a timeframe that I can work with.....hopefully.
Are companies allowed to do this? Change the terms after they have received payment?
I know it's a little late and I probably should have checked before purchase, but I have since done a little bit of digging and it seems that a lot of people have been waiting over a month to receive goods and some are still waiting.
They are ignoring social media questions and emails as well, yet still advertising that goods are available to order with the 5 day timeframe.
It appears that they are taking orders for stock that they do not have and lots of customers have missed birthday and gift deadlines etc, but they are blaming covid.

What do you want to do about it? You can cancel your order if you like.0

They are probably covering themselves for delays in the post, seems to be a standard thing a lot of places are still saying despite the post and couriers functioning pretty much as normal. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

Could be staff are having to self isolate after being pinged. This is happening a lot. If there are less staff doing the work, things will take longer. I read that some big stores may have to reduce opening hours or close temporarily due to staff having to isolate and not enough in work to operate the store.0

Thank you all for the replies. Seems I am a premature worrier. The items arrived on the 24/7/21 so I feel a bit silly now.
Ah well, hope this post can put others at ease in the future :-)3
