IPad firmware Upgrade

I have an old iPad 4th Generation MD510B/A, present firmware Rev. 8.1.1

I’ve tried to update the iOS: firstly to iOS 10.3.3 but found apple stated {somewhere} ‘no updates for this iPad above iOS 10.1

So tried update iOS 10.1 but when it reaches T&C’s it freezes. Doesn’t matter if you accept T&C’s or not in the tick box, just freezes and goes no further. Any bright ideas ?

According to Wikipedia, the 4th Gen iPad will support 10.3.3. iOS 10.1 will almost certainly not be signed by Apple any longer and would not be installable.

As confirmed by this site: https://ipsw.me/iPad3,4

The only 10.x.x. iOS that is signed is 10.3.3

    Tried iOS 10.3.3

The 'dowload and install' button acknowledged activation but then did precisely nothing.
Even plugged in the charger as understand iphone will not upgrade firmware until charger is active.
  • I'm afraid not. iOS 11 doesn't even contain drivers for the iPad 4 anymore, so it won't work on this machine under any circumstances.

You may be able to connect it to iTunes and update firmware that way, which will give you the latest for that particular model:
