Debt Collection letter - TALK TALK - BW legal - never had an account

Hi i've received a letter from BW legal and JC international claiming I owe £92.05. This is the first I've ever heard of it and not sure how they have my details....

I nearly took out a talk talk broadband, did a quote etc, but didn't complete the purchase - I have the email to say not completed...
Now they are claiming money despite me never having opened an account or started the service...

BW legal are asking for date of birth and other personal info to talk to me. I don't want to supply this as I don't trust them.

What should I do?

Thanks

I contacted talk talk who said

“ It appears that there's an account under your name but, you didn't place an order as you mentioned above. Let me check our resolution here, I'll return to you in a bit.”

    then said

“ Thank you. Based on my checks, we didn't gave this address onto the debt purchaser. Since the contact details is included in the letter, I suggest you to reach out to them that you don't have an account with us. “

You don't have to supply anything to them.

It may well be there is someone with an identical or similar name to yours and they are trawling around trying to find them

If they won't talk to you, you may wish as a courtesy drop them a letter with the info you have posted here.

Either ignore it, or send them a prove it letter. Legally they are obliged to provide proof that you owe the debt - it's not up to you to prove that you don't owe it. When they can't, they should cease enforcement action.
