Cashing an international cheque

Hi,
does anyone please know of a cheque cashing company for international cheques (specifically USD).

I bank with Nationwide and they don’t cash foreign currency cheques,  and I am unable to open another account elsewhere right now.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

This question has been asked and answered countless times, and a quick Google will provide some hints and tips, e.g. here: https://www.pocketpence.co.uk/convert-currency-6529550.html

Isn't there anyway the sender of the cheque could send you the money electronically using your IBAN (International Bank Account Number). This information should be on your Nationwide statement.

Trying to cash or pay in a foreign currency cheque is going to be expensive as it is yesterdays technology and involves a lot of manual intervention.
  • No.

Since the tightening of anti money laundering by Banks it is unlikely you will be able to encash a foreign (non-U.K.) cheque.  The only option is to pay it into a bank account in the payee’s name with a bank that offers a foreign cheque cashing service.

You did say this was not an option so you may as well write off the money.

Been covered many times in 2020 when USA peeps living in the UK got the handouts from the US gov...

You are going to have to open a bank account with a bank that will take them. Pretty sure HSBC do.
