Jet2 up to tricks?

Wondering if anyone has had the same issue?
I had a cancellation invoice through from Jet2Holidays on Monday 9th July for a holiday departing on Monday 16th July, and I didn't cancel the holiday. No email saying apologies the flight is cancelled or anything similar, just a refund receipt.
I called them and eventually got through after many hours and after looking into it have said the outbound flight is no longer running which is why its cancelled.
However, 3 days later, the whole holiday and flights are still for sale on their website, and the flight is showing on Stansted departure board.
Two things:
1) Has anyone seen this before?
2) If the flight / holiday does take off what are my rights that they've cancelled my holiday for no reason. I've paid 100s more to now book with another airline and booked accommodation direct with the hotel I was meant to be staying in via Jet2.
Thank you

It would be very useful if you told us where you had been going on holiday. Flight number also handy.

Were you booked to fly from Stansted?

The info on what ever airport site you are looking at is likely to just need updating.
  • Thanks
London Stansted to Larnaca (Cyprus), Flight Number: LS1495.

Part of a package deal returning on Saturday 31st July.

The excuse for them cancelling it was it’s not operating as they rejected a flight time change so had to cancel the flight.

Some customer service staff were equally miffed that the holiday / flights are still advertised even though ops staff told them it’s cancelled and just needs removing from the site.

That was Monday and now 4 days later it’s still for sale.

Can’t work out if this is standard Jet2 practice. Can’t see any logic in them cancelling it and losing the money if it does take off.

Did you mean Monday 19 July rather than 16 July (today).

From what I can see Jet2 and Jet2 Holidays are indeed available for sale with outbound departure on 19 July and return 31 July.

    19Jul Mon STN 1105 LCA 1745. 31 Jul Sat LCA 2315 STN 0210.
Where those the timings of your flights?
  • Correct. Still showing.
They’ve cancelled it saying the outbound flight isn’t going.
Not sure how I stand on this now.
Seems a strange practice to cancel people’s holidays when it’s still leaving.

Were those original times?  Just wondering if there had been two flights or a rescheduling and perhaps they thought you were not accepting the ‘new’ 11:05 departure.  Sometimes flights get rescheduled and you/agent needs to click a button to confirm acceptance of the change. If not acceptable and the change falls in to the category of what they class a major change then they may cancel and refund.

Now you have found an alternative holiday I am not sure what can be done. I guess you could write to them and express your disappointment. They might subsequently offer a gesture of goodwill if a mistake has been made their end.

    Hope you enjoy Cyprus.
