How to pay Citi ??

Help me out here!
How on earth do I pay a sum onto my Citi card, before the date of the statement? There appears to be no option in their on-line banking facility to do this from my debit card?!
Reason is, I usually spend 1000-1500 per month on my card, which then gets paid in full after the statement arrives. My usual cards have limits of several times this, so I never go anywhere near my limit.
However, I've just got a Shell Card from Citi, and want to take maximum benefit from the excellent cash back in the first two months. However, the credit limit they have given me is so pitiful (500!) that I will need to make almost weekly payments to my account so I don't go over the limit, until such time as they decide to give me a more sensible credit limit!
I have absolutely no problem in doing this, as I have the money sitting here... but I can't find where I am supposed to be able to set up the transaction?!
Help!!!

I may be wrong, but I think cashback is only calculated on your NET spend per month.
So if you spend £500 five times, but pay it off four times, you'll only earn cashback on £500, not £2500.
Could be wrong though.
You can pay by debit card during the month over the phone (£3 fee) or do it online (just go to your own bank's website - details of account numbers are on the back of the Citi statement). You can even pay in cash at your own branch.0 -
If I go on my bank website (Lloyds) they have a number of ways to pay Citi Cards, although not for cards starting with my first 4 digits (5160). I don't have a statement from them yet to manually enter the sortcode and account number.
I thought cashback was awarded on all purchases?

Wow. Massive response. I guess no one has Citi credit cards!!
I phoned Citi (What a joke!), and they have said I cannot make a payment to my account until the statement has been generated. That, for me, is another 22 days and I'm already up to my limit.
I guess I'm going to have to cut the card up and rely on my Amex or Morgan Stanley, both with 'sensible' credit limits.Savings - £18,500 @ 5.22% Average0 -

What people? Thats the point
I'm just a bit frustrated, their card services won't help me, my bank can't help me because my card starts with 5160 and they don't have a corresponding account no/sort code for these and their on-line banking facility doesn't accept debit card deposits.Savings - £18,500 @ 5.22% Average0 -
From my bmibaby card BGC slip...
Sort code: 40-63-10
Account No: 01541110
Reference: your 16 digit card number
Suggest you send a test payment of £1, and confirm it's arrived before sending further larger amounts.they have said I cannot make a payment to my account until the statement has been generatedrely on my Amex or Morgan Stanley, both with 'sensible' credit limits.0 -

Suggest you send a test payment of £1, and confirm it's arrived before sending further larger amounts....but that's exactly how credit cards operate. You spend...they tell you how much and how to pay on the statement...then you pay.Maybe these "sensible" limits are the reason you got such a low limit on the citi card?
Thanks for the details. Will give it a whirl! (Good tip re the one pound test payment!).
I understand how the cards work - but if I did that I would only spend a maximum of my credit card limit per month - which in this case would be 500. Unfortunately, this is only 1/2 to 1/3 of what I spend per month on the cards. I have my partner as an additional card holder on the account, and I don't want to constantly worry if we're approaching or over the credit limit - which would be easy to do with only 500 pounds as limit! All my other cards allow me to make a debit card payment as and when I wish to the account, no matter what date it is in correlation to my statement date.
I can understand the reasons behind the low limit and I don't have a (direct) problem with it, provided I can pay money onto the card during the month.
All seems a bit over the top to get an extra 0.5% cashback! Maybe I'll use the Shell card for fuel & motoring expenses and everything else on the Amex/MS!!

You must be very trusting, because I'd want it from the horses mouth...not some anonymous poster on an internet chat forum!0 -
