M & S current account switching

I set up my M & S current account with no DD's, SO's or having to maintain £1000+ in credit balance. I simply use it to transfer money from A to B & to receive dividends from investments etc. There are no charges to this account & I want a straight like for like switch & maybe a switching bonus. Can anybody help? Thanks.

First Direct is the only switching bonus that might be relevant - HSBC and Virgin Money both require you to switch with DDs.

In terms of recommendations for a simple free account - Starling is a good shout.

I have a Lloyds Classic account which, as far as I know, has no requirements for paying in, SOs or DDs.  No switching bonus, however.

Your question is a bit vague.
if you want more information, you could google ‘Compare uk current accounts’.
Comparethemarket has an article about choosing a current account. Sorry can’t link as I am in a mobile device.
You need to decide how you want to access the account. Online, mobile or in branch? Some people like a top notch mobile and/or website experience.
How do you setup new payees? Some forum members don’t like using keypads to setup a new payee. Some people don’t like One Time Passcodes. I don’t know how M&S bank allow you to setup new payees, but you need to find a method you are comfortable with.
    Google is your friend.

The way M&S Bank does things is very similar to other HSBC brands, as they share systems.

Therefore, if you value familiarity HSBC or First Direct would be good. Switching to First Direct (if you’ve never had an account with them before) might be worth doing as you would qualify for their switching incentive.

Current incentives are from HSBC, FD, Virgin and Halifax. Read up on if any the accounts from those banks are what you're after or not. You might not qualify for the HSBC/FD offers depending on when you opened your M&S account but it'd be worth a look anyway. If not, you can still switch to any other bank, most of which offer a pretty similar experience in my experience.

If you have used up all your switching bonus offers like I have, another option is to switch to Barclays and use their Blue Rewards - £4 monthly fees but £7 monthly rewards = £3 monthly gain. You need £800 in/out a month plus 2 active Direct Debits. The 2 DD`s will already be set up on your M&S current account. Open a Barclays current account, set up standing order £800 in from your hub current account and then £800 return, set up CASS switch to Barclays from your M&S current account, and then set up Blue Rewards. You have to get moving - M&S current account closes 21 August.

How is that compatible with the OP's 'no DDs' criteria?

Oops! Sorry you are correct! Apologies! However many on this forum will have M&S Current accounts set up with 2 DD`s a few years ago to benefit an old switch offer plus linked monthly saver and my post is relevant under a more general "M&S current account switching" headline. Concerning the Barclays CASS switching process I forgot to mention that this can only be done via the App or by going into a branch. It appears you cannot do it online.
