Please move if in wrong place,

Ok so last year my GYM (Non covid related) closed,

I am looking at re joining my local swimming pool (Had Swim Membership few years ago) with one of there Ipswich Fit Gym/swimming Memberships as wanna get fit again and loose some body fat as not done much exercise during lockdown.

Swimming 45 mins slot
Gym 1 Hour slot

I have checked online and most of the lane swimming slots are fully booked or only have spaces when I am at work and the GYM Slots not many left,

So when do you think Gyms and swimming pools in England will drop their Covid restrictions measures and operate like they were pre covid??

I have messed Ipswich fit to see what they be a day or to before they reply,

May be worth checking for slots every day. My swimming pool releases the slots a week in advance, each day for the same day the following week.
Can’t see them changing it any time soon.

AIUI, from Monday there is no requirement on them to limit numbers, so it will be a commercial decision as to what they do going forward.   It's going to be a lottery from business to business as to what level of "guidelines" they decide to run with.

I'm hoping that ours will take the "out of use" tape off of the hairdryers!!!

One thing I did overhear the other day was that members were apparently booking up swimming slots, as they are included in their membership £, but then not actually turning up.   Bit of a cheek, when other people can't get slots.   Our pool is a public one, so you can book and pay as a non-member, currently limited to 24.

I'm off to my session later this morning.

    Update:

Ipswich fit emailed me back saying after 19th July Measures will still be in place with time slots for GYM and swimming with bookings online only, but are working hard inline with swim England to make things like they were pre covid.

Won't be getting discount at moment due to reduced rate due to covid 19.

So probably gonna sign up to the GYM/Swim Membership but not go swimming till they ease the restrictions with no time slots etc

At my local gym they have maintained lane swimming (max of 2 people per lane) between each lockdown - one lane of 45 minutes, the others are all 30 minute sessions.  This has become such a popular idea that they have been persuaded to carry on in the same way after 19/7, but with one 'free swimming lane' added.

As for Aqua Aerobics - it's been limited to 12 people for the past couple of months but is going up to 40 participants from Monday..... I can't but feel that the changing rooms are going to be a tad over-crowded and there won't be much social distancing possible.....

I'm not in a huge rush to use the sauna or steam room either...but there will be plenty who will.

Just had a note that from my gym re swimming post 19th

    Swimming and lessons:
     • Pool lanes will no longer be bookable in advance and we will return to the normal arrive and swim service. While pool lane booking enabled us to control capacity it did so at a cost to the availability of swim time for all users and we lost around 50% of our available swim time. If you would like to swim at a quieter time please ask the club management team who will be able to advise when it is best to come.
     • Our swim lesson capacity will be increased to its previous normal level.
     • Family swim times will be fully reinstated at key times of the day so you can once again enjoy the pool as a family without having to book in advance.
     • We will be providing a new pool schedule so you have visibility of what you can do and when in this area of the club.

The gym i go to are dropping all restrictions and booking sessions from July 26th. Just turn up for a session after that, which is much better imo.

Just checked at my pool. Swimming lessons are starting again but otherwise the lane bookings are staying as that is still industry best practice recommendation.
As there were just 2 of us in the slow lane tonight, I’m happy with that.

Just looked up our pool for next week, and it appears that they are keeping booking for slots, but have relaxed the number for some of the sessions.

The Adult only swim is still showing as 24 (the max) remaining, but General Swim is showing as 100 places remaining.

Actually, it may be that with 100 places, you can also just turn up to swim too, but you might get turned away if those 100 spots have already gone.    Unlikely, as that is a lot of people!!   It's probably their normal legal max capacity.

I'm quite happy with that, as it means that the session I go to shouldn't get any busier, but it's never seemed like there's been 24 in the pool anyway.

I was only sharing the fast lane with one other person yesterday.
