While correct that FCO advice can be different from the traffic light system for travel.
Their advice does mirror the government's traffic light system in respect to covid.
They may also issue different travel warnings but these are usually due to security issues.
For example advising against travel to war torn or politically unstable countries such as Afghanistan and Somalia.

Croatia or Bulgaria it is then - at least Sunny Beach still looks cheap. For now.
You have to be aware of a country's own rules for entry.
Bulgaria has a similar traffic light situation to us.
We are currently on their 'orange list.
This means any one who is not fully vaccinated will have to present proof of a negative PCR test No more than 72 hours before arrival or a rapid anti gen test No more than 48 hours before arrival.
They also do random testing on arrival at the airport and if you test negative you have to isolate for 14 days.
There's also the risk that if lots of young people go to Bulgaria partying and the covid rates take off just like they have in the Balearics, the country will be swiftly put back on our amber list.

FCDO advice can change at any time- it is not always the same as the traffic light list. they are two separate processes.
Insurance normally provides cover it FCDO advice is not against travelling when you book or when you travel, which ever is later. So if you booked last week and travel on Friday you will still be covered.
