I apologise if this is in the wrong forum subheading:
I'm a first time buyer and I keep getting turned down, Natwest offered me a agreement in principle and I put an offer in on a house and accepted. I rung Natwest this morning to complete the app and was declined! So today I went with a mortgage broker who applied with Barclays and something came up, basically saying I didn't declare all my debts and history! A bit confused they said try and get a copy of your credit report and send it to us, they recommended 'Checkmyfile'.
To my horror, Equifax seem to think that myself and my Twin are the same people. He has a Barclays car loan and a Barclays credit card maxed out and missed loads of payments on both credit. He seems to be still using my parents address. I moved into my parents back in August after a split and then moved into my current rental property in December.
I can't seem to resolve it when I click on dispute, equifax says 'They may be your loans, but under a different company name, ring Barclays' Erm no, they're my twins, it even says his name on there. It's also showing his Santander bank account and Vodafone Mobile Contract.
Anyone have any ideas what I can do?
My mortgage broker is trying their hardest as I send them a copy of the credit file and it clearly shows whats going on.

You mention "click on dispute", but did you actually file a dispute with the full information you posted above? It seems odd that they would not fully investigate a dispute. It will take some time but it should end up being corrected.
It is probably more a question for the credit forum although I have no idea where that has moved to in the reshuffle.1 -
Thank you, I couldn’t find that forum either..
I managed to log into Equifax directly and raise a dispute there, the drop down options didn't really match my problem, but I’ve given them all info I can tell them, no idea how long they will take…On my credit file with Equifax they call it ‘Attributable Data’ these credit commitments might be you, but we cant be sure, so lenders shouldn't asses you on these…. Thats wishful thinking Equifax, if only it was that easy! they did and other credit file access sites also show my Twins credit commitments on my file
The mortgage broker is negotiating, so fingers crossed it gets thru, Its there in black and white. I’ll be devastated if I loose the house because of the incompetence and assumptions of Equifax made!

Am surprised your twin’s financial affairs are showing in yours. The only reason I can think of this Happening is if you have both done a joint application in which case you might be linked.
your DOB likely the same but names will be different.
always a good idea to see your credit files to see what is showing, send the bank a copy and that should resolve it.
Raise a dispute so can be sorted out.
Better to know what is going on before making any more applications. If you make so many applications in a short space of time like within 6 months, likely affect your score negatively.1 -
Thanks London.
no never done a joint app with him on anything. I think its the DOB, Address and Surname and Middle initial the Same I think thats thrown it!
i just had an email from ClearScore saying my latest report is here, ClearScore use Equifax, and they don't show my Twins affairs.
Mad how some reports can show it and some dont. Equifax themselves does and check myfile.
Hopefully the mortgage provider (Barclays so far) use common sense and see 🤞0
