Energy contact: moved from sole trader to LTD company
Hi,
I was just looking for some advice. I took my commercial electricity contract out when I was a sole trader at my premises, I have recently changed to a ltd company (same premises).

I was wondering if this means I can set up a new energy contract or if the previous contract still stand (checked the contract particulars and I couldn’t see any mention).
I hope I can switch as I have had issues with my supplier - BES utilities. But I just needed pointing in the right direction.

And to clarify, the contract end date is 20250

You can't simply switch like you can in the domestic market. You are under contract until 2025Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Business energy is a shark tank. You open your mouth you're committed to something. So if you took business energy at the property until 2025 (whether that was a smart move tariff wise or not) then you're committed to it until that date in 2025.However I would suggest checking with the existing provider if you can transfer it to the name of the limited company, as the business will be using the energy, not you. You probably can't switch without it costing the earth (literally most likely on some business tariffs) so see if you can move it to the company instead.0
