No statements for a year
Hello
I bought my house last August and switched energy companies when I moved in to Avro Energy.
I did a few readings but didn’t see any statements but thought it might just be a delay. Fast forward to 7th July this when I email them asking about my statement and I am told there was an issue with them auto generating due to receiving an incorrect reading when the account first went live. But at no point have they attempted to contact me about this.
I now have a very large bill of -£500 on the account that I feel could have been less or prevented if I had seen what I had been spending for the last year.

I have asked to raise a complaint but I am not sure where I stand with this. Any ideas?

You may get a small amount of compensation for poor customer service but you cannot just blame the supplier for the situation that you now find yourself in. Why wait nearly a year for a statement?0

Why not wait even longer? You might have been aided by the back-billing rule if it had been more than a year since they sent you a statement but from last August that rule will not apply.Reed0

£500 also suggests a big underestimate of your consumption. Do you keep your own records and a small spreadsheet to calculate the cost.?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Any ideas? You were aware of how to read your meter so you could easily check how much you were using at any point in the last year, so hard to see why you would be unaware of the amount you were consuming...If you complain you'll probably get a token gesture of say £20 or so, but the bill still needs to be paid for what you have used...0 -
I read my meter weekly and send in readings on the 19th of the month getting the bill in my account around the 23rd I keep a record of the readings on the PC so if they try to claim any usage which I haven't used I can refer back to my weekly readings.
One old supplier tried to claim more than I used in 2018 that's when I started taking weekly readings.Someone please tell me what money is0 -
Have you checked to make sure they are using the correct opening meter read? Is it also the same reading as the previous supplier used for their final bill?0

Maybe an OOPS ! - " switched energy companies when I moved in to Avro "When you move into a property you should contact the EXISTING energy suppliers to that dwelling IMMEDIATELY, as they are the registered supplier.Only when you have registered with them and they have raised an account for you, are you free to go to another supplier of your choice. If it is an Oops you now have two suppliers, but it is the original supplier who's bills you must pay0
