Blocked Drain Outside

Hi my drain has been blocked outside for about 3 days.
I have managed to screw together 11 meters of rods but still cannot get to the block and the next manhole in my boundary is 9 meters. Theres a manhole in my neighbours drive which is about 13 meters away maybe that has the blockage. Was on hold yesterday for 2 hours with thames water and gave up will try them today. Because its now past my property can i ask thames water or affinity water to clear it? Any suggestions what i can do?

Yes, if the pipe only serves your property then it becomes a lateral drain once it crosses into your neighbour's property, and the sewage company become responsible for it. (Up to the boundary it would be yours, unless shared with someone else)

You need to contact Thames Water. They do have an online blockage report form if the phone lines are still busy, but I'm not sure how good it is.


Edit:  If the Thames Water contractor finds the blockage is your responsibility they will ask you to pay for the clearance.  You might want to ask the neighbour to let you have a look in their manhole to confirm where the blockage is before getting Thames involved.
