This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning, it's a grey start here, but not cold.Yesterday was an ok day, did a few jobs and made a quick trip to the shops. The man is coming to install the new boiler today, DH has moved a few things out of the way - the boiler is in the old airing cupboard in a bedroom,Not much else happening today, I was going to have a look round the shops at a local shopping centre with DD, but she can't go now.Yesterday turned out really warm and sunny after a gloomy morning, today might be the same.Ruby, hope you and your Dh and DD feel better today, this virus sounds horrible. The only person I know who's had it is one of my grandsons, but he's only 15 and he was only a bit off colour for a couple of days, he still has the cough but is going back to school today. Your DD will still be feeling unwell after her head injury, poor girl.Nanny, you and DH will be glad your daily road trips have ended, hope the treatment has done its stuff. When I had radiotherapy we were out every morning by 6.45 to get to the other side of Newcastle through the early morning traffic for 8 am ish.. Hope you're both ok.Rosy, sorry to hear the dog has strained a leg, hope the postman was well and truly told!Hope everyone has a good day anyway, thinking of the poorly people and those struggling with life generally.13

Morning folks.Already it's hot outside, may be a good day ahead. Thanks for starting us off Scarlet. Good luck with the new boiler installation, it'll be worth the upheaval.Yesterday the Dutchman worked solidly for three hours. I did my tasks at PO, CS and tip so was happy. This morning I'm having breakfast with Alan then more packing whilst waiting for a call from my solicitor to go into his office to sign the Confirmation papers. Two lovely neighbours are going to lift out the heavy hostess trolley for me at some point too.My thoughts are with our poorlies and missing. Happy Wednesday to all.13

Morning All
Gosh it was warm yesterday but there was a breeze, not as humid as it has been. Overcast this morning but I can see blue sky appearing so not all bad. I was reading in the garden until about 7.30, really lovely.
Ended up going into Glasgow yesterday for a few bits, it was fairly quiet but totally uninspiring, probably as I wasn't looking for anything in particular.
Hope the RR household are improving, look after yourselves.
How are you Nelski? Miss you.
Hope you and Mr Fixit are resting today Nanny.
Bet the postman was glad Rosy! Poor dog, hope she's feeling better today.
I have a swim booked for 8am, trying to avoid the old folk who I'm sure only go to the pool for a bath, not sure why they can't go to a park bench for a chat! (On saying that, I admire them for getting up in the morning, doing something and having some social interraction - they just get in my way!!).
I'll go courgette hunting this morning, a chap at the allotment told me he enjoyed one of my courgettes - just helped himself!
Hope you enjoy Wednesday, take care. XX12 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. It was a grey start here too but the sun is now getting through and they say temps are now on the up - at last! I have been missing my garden reading days.
Today is bus trip day. We will have the usual committee meeting on where to go when we meet up in the bus station. As always it will involve a wine 'n dine lunch with lots of chatting and a bit of aimless wandering and browsing before and after. I mustn't do any unnecessary spending as I had the usual expensive visit to the vets last night. These monthly bills soon mount up. And as well as that it's stressful for both me and Sparkle doing battle to get her in the cat carrier to get there in the first place! It was the usual steroid jab for the allergy and as the conjunctivitis doesn't get fully cleared up either now there is the anti b jab for that too. He says one treatment/problem is fighting the other with no magic cure. Poor little Sparkle, she's not very sparkly at the moment but in another day or two she will be back to normal for a short while.
SCARLET I hope the boiler change is uneventful. Mine is earmarked for early August but as it involves new pipework throughout too it's going to be a big job so me and Sparkle are going back to the caravan out of the way for a few days. NAN finally no more arduous trips for treatment. RUBY I hope things are improving in your household now. Aw poor ROSY's dog, I hope she is improving too. Still no MIA back in the fold and I miss all of them. I know it's illness in quite a few cases so I hope things are improving for you all.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care one and all xx

Thanks for the thread Scarlet and hugs to all those in need.
Sunny here, pump out and water fill today, we had a lovely day yesterday, met up with a friend, made lots of plans for this year's cruising and also becoming roving traders for next year. It's giving Steve something to think about.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.

Morning, hugs if you need one.
We managed one of the two things yesterday, when I got to Tesco they only had PAYG phones on display, so that was not good. Will have to wait until my contract is out to order a new phone. We did order the stone for the greenhouse, we are getting it delivered this week, we hope to get the greenhouse up on Saturday.
My dental techie rang me, he came and delivered my plate and he is going to make a new plate for me and a partial denture for DB. He was disgusted at DB's plate, he agreed with me it was truly awful so DB is getting a partial denture at the bottom and a full one at the top. W have to go for impressions in a couple of weeks.
The hanging baskets needed water last night, DB has also done them again this morning, we have had no rain but its still been very warm.
Load of laundry in, will dry it outside.
No idea whats for supper, will have a rake in the freezer and see what I can find.7 -
Morning all, sunny sunny sunny...good job too, I'm going to potter in the garden and do some more riddling. I'm determined to empty the big thing at the back of gravel this year and cover it and lay some flooring that will be flat. Someone basically laid a concrete edging then filled it full of gravel and sand, then added more concrete removable edging [which went via Freecycle] and topped it up with more gravel and sand. I've been slowly riddling this and using the stones to make surfaces elsewhere in the garden but it's 19ft long and 9ft wide with gravel a foot deep so a lot of gravel to shift. I didn't do the tiles yesterday, that's on the list of things to do when I get round to them. I think I'm also going to change my decluttering strategy which will be, if I were to move house, what would I take and what would I keep. That should sort the wheat from the chaff so to speak. And disappoint the bin guy whose look of dismay the one time he did find the bin full was very comical. Other than that, nothing much going on, OH is on lates so only me to please with food and someone's coming round to buy a camping kettle.Nanny, hope you and Mr Fixit have a relaxing day.Ruby, wishing you less virulence and your daughter a rapid recovery. Hester, glad Steve has something to sink his teeth into...besides you.....Enjoy the gadding TA. Gers, nearly there, nearly there...Scarlet,,hope your boiler install is smooth. Rosy, I hope the postman was suitably chastised...and the dog is better today.. Have a good day if you can, if you can't, I send you sunshine for a change instead of rain...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10

Morning everybody,It's a lovely day, with a breeze. Another quick walk with D(think it stands for daft dog not dear
)Dog, easing a bit but stiff after she's been lying around. Don't worry, she can't get out to the posties & they're used to her. Thanks for the good wishes. When I got back to the house ,next door told me there had been 3 mallards in his back garden and go & have a look but his Mrs had just opened the gate onto the back path and they trotted off. She said they'd been there ages.Don't know if they got lost, there is a pond between our road and another
.

Still the house of eughhhhhh here, I have completly lost my sense of taste and smell, eating is horrible and I love my food, its a real struggle to get anything down as it tastes of nothing, its a really strange sensation, OH and I are still coughing and noses running like taps and random aches all over, all we can do is lay either on the sofa or in bed and wait for it to pass, dd felt slightly better yesterday so im hoping she has turned a corner.
Rosy I hope dear dog is feeling a bit better xx
Have good days all xx
