DMP Marker Help

Options
Apologies of I'm posting in the wrong place.

I can't find answer to this anywhere...

Many years ago I got into a lot of debt. Those debts were defaulted and I've almost completed paying them all off through a DMP.

I've noticed one debt was never defaulted but instead marked with a DMP flag. I have contacted the company to see if a default could be added and backdated but I'm getting nowhere.

Am I correct in thinking the flag will prolong my credit file woes and remain on my file for 6 years after the final payment.

I've been able to find info on AP markers lasting 6 years but nothing definitive on DMP flags.

Any wisdom appreciated

Unsure, as I haven`t heard of a DMP flag before, presumably it has the same status as an AP marker.

All I can suggest is a written complaint to the creditor, accusing them of unfair treatment as you have almost repaid your debt, but have been treated the same as someone who has ignored their debt completely, and because of this your credit file will be marked with negative information for longer than it should.

Be pre-pared to escalate to either the FOS and/or the ICO.
