My engine warning light 'check' came on and garage (who'd just serviced it 13 miles earlier) diagnosed it was the camshaft sensor. They switched the warning light off and asked me what I wanted to do but how would I know?! They couldn't tell me how much it would cost to replace sensor so I'm in limbo between getting quote and replacement or leaving it to see if it happens again. Will i cause damage by continuing to drive it? Advice please

    "switched it off"?
Do you mean they cleared the fault code from the memory (as far as I know you can't just switch off the lamp)? If so and the fault is still present the warning lamp will come back on, if it was a rogue warning then the lamp will stay off and happy days.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

It could just be a duff sensor they appear to be a common failure on that age picanto. Very easy to change and very cheap.

Should be easy for anyone with even basic DIY knowledge. Expect £50 at your local indy garage.
