Emergency Tax Issue Help/Advice Needed

in Cutting tax
I started a new role on 6th April this year and since then I have been paying emergency tax with my code being S0T.
I called HMRC at the end of May and was issued a new tax code of S1257L and I received the notice by post on 1 June. HMRC stated they would also send this notice to my Employer. I received my pay at the end of last month and my tax code hasn't been changed at my employers end. My employer said they haven't received notification of the change despite HMRC saying they have resent the notice again and my employer state they cant do anything until they receive the notice from HMRC as they wont accept my copy.
I am paying over £200 a month on tax when I am only part time and below the tax threshold. Can anyone offer any advice on how I can sort this as my employer is not helping at all and I cant continue to lose this amount every month.

Ask HMRC to resend the notice and in the meantime ask your employer if they will accept a starter checklist so that they can use the emergency tax code
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/paye-starter-checklist
The code you are on at the moment is the tax code an employer should use for anyone who will not complete a starter checklist; if you can declare that this is your only employment since the tax year started then you will get the tax code HMRC are issuing. If you have had other employment then the same code will be used going forward but no adjustment for earlier until HMRC code arrives. If had earlier job do you have a P45?0 -
The only thing I could add (every cloud) is that you haven't 'lost it' - once the cumulative tax code is processed all the incorrect tax deducted will be refunded to you in that month. Treat it as an unoffical saving scheme. It doesn't help if you need the money to live on now, but it will come back eventually. With the time lapse I am sure your employer would have received the new code by now, ask if they have checked the Government Gateway for code updates (ours are sent electronically and not on paper). If it was a paper copy, have they got someone in the office opening the post (I work in the tax department and had a pile of post 15" high from HMRC to open after only a week).0
