If your claim was set up during covid they may not have done such thorough checks as they normally would as they had huge numbers of new applicants. So this appointment will be just to check things thoroughly.

If you failed to attend the appointment to verify information, you could be faced with having to repay UC payments made to date.

There are other posts on this site, where this has happened.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

That sounds about right. I just didn't know if they had had a glitch on the system and were suddenly treating me as a new claimant.

A reIative also got the verify ID msg today out the blue for a Phone apt UC want to have with them tomorrow. They showed me a screenshot and I also thought it was a scam & dodgy because they provided a lot of ID docs at time of claim last year and also had to get validation through the Didgidenty app before the claim could be processed!
I'm still not convinced it's bonafide and wondering if DWP UC system has been hacked?

Relative should  take part in phone call, but don't provide any information until the UC agent has sent a journal message on the UC claim confirming it someone from UC that is calling.

That's really great advice. We checked and can see the phone appt request it in their journal. We can also see it was sent by an agent at Nottingham service centre but the claimant is in London, always has been and was being dealt with by a local work coach attached to local job centre/office. Will update with anything useful for anyone else once we've received the call.

On my daughters journal messages have been added by agents in Middlesborough and Dundee and we don't live anywhere near either of them.

It will be remotely based staff dealing with this, work coaches have enough on their plate.
