Should I be worried about these soft searches?

I've checked my Credit Karma app this morning and see that these 4 companies 'soft searched' my credit file a few days ago:

Insurance Initiatives Limited (IQ)
Post Office Management Services (COSMOS)
LexisNexis
BISL Limited

It says they did so to carry out an insurance risk assessment search.

The only insurance I've bought in the last 3+ years is my Flat Contents insurance which was purchased in early August last year. I also haven't been on any price comparison sites or looked at insurance since then.

Does anybody know why these companies would have searched my credit file? Is it something that's done periodically based on my credentials on file? or could this be something sinister?

Thank you in advance for your help.

They do it in readiness for your insurance renewal, happens each year due to using a comparison site.

    Nothing to be worried about.

If you've ever used a comparison site you'll have given companies the right to search your credit file "from time to time" in order for them to provide you with offers. As long as they are soft searches there's nothing really to worry about - lenders don't see them anyway. It's more hassle than it's worth to try and have them removed.
