Old Style Daily Monday 12 July 2021

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks. It's quiet here, I hope that everyone is OK.
This morning I'm planning to move some stuff out of the kitchen and utility room as the decorator is starting tomorrow. I'll also wash down the back door as it's pretty manky. My cleaner has kept my place going over when I was away but doesn't see more than floors and surfaces.Later on I'm going back to Glasgow to start operation final clear out. There's all the paintings to come down, the display cabinets to empty and things in the Welsh dresser. Then there's the leftover furniture too.Tomorrow my car is having a major clean too. I've booked a mobile valet company as it needs alien life removed. There's not any stuff in it just a lot of spilled drinks, dust and so on. All the things I'd normally have kept on top of.For now I need to focus on DM's flat, once it's done I can start to relax. Thanks for all the advice taff, it's all useful and interesting. My thoughts are with our poorlies and missing. Happy Monday to all.10 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Safe journey back to Glasgow. Hope you have some help with the final jobs.
I slept better last night for a change, maybe 'cos of the late finish of the football. My heart goes out to the poor lads who missed their penalties. It's a rotten way to decide a winner.
I may have been spurred on by GERS' efforts but I have told myself today I will start operation clear out and declutter. I made a start last summer but it sort of fizzled out! So watch this space on that! As it's a mizzly sort of day nothing better is planned so no excuse!
Middle DGD came for tea yesterday to tell me all about her audition for part time tuition at Renaissance Art. She said watching all the dance techniques that are new to them was wonderful,. but she thinks they may be after the skinny whippets that Northern Ballet seem to favour and, although she is far from fat, she is certainly not skinny. She says she wouldn't be disappointed if she didn't get offered a place. I think the journey to Leeds each time puts her off! Anyway she will know by the end of the week and then have to decide.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies and woeful and those MIA. NAN just 2 more visits for treatment and then your time is your own. RUBY I hope you and your DD are feeling better this morning. Take care one and all xx

Morning all drizzly here today but plenty to do as always I have lots of dresses that i have bought for cruises or weddings that didn't happen so i need to sort through those loads still have tags on so will probably sell on e bay I liked them at the time but not so sure now .
Watched the game last night we should be very proud of our team they played well penalty shoot out isn't a very fair way to end a game but i suppose there is no other option
Gers good luck on the final clear out any large items you dont want maybe the new owner would like ? we left a large freezer to be honest it did us a favour it would have been heavy and awkward to move as we had units built in around it and they were a young couple so saved them buying one i think they were on a tight budget anyway so it did everyone a favour
Ruby I hope DD is getting better and you are feeling a bit better too x
Hugs to all our poorlies and those looking after poorlies and a hug to anyone who just needs one x
Have a great day whatever you are up to stay safe xSlava Ukraini9 -
Morning All
Cloudy and damp this morning, there was quite heavy rain overnight but still very humid.
Windows all cleaned inside yesterday and the beds made up, the house looks a lot better now but sadly no decluttering, I ran out of steam! DGD left me her brownie blanket to sew badges on so I made a start on that, there are loads to do but as she's going up to Guides after the summer there's no rush.
Swimming this morning then the day is free, may see if DD is around and pay her a visit, she can have some of the courgettes!
Just two more visits Nanny, you've done so well, all that travelling can't be easy.
Hoping the Ruby household are on the mend.
Have a happy Monday, take care. XX10 -
Morning everyone
Foggy here but it still very warm. It's supposed to be a lovely week after today, fingers crossed as it's our last week of term. It rained all afternoon yesterday so I made a start on sorting out my wardrobe to fill a charity bag to be collected tomorrow. DD and little one came up at teatime and we had a treat of an Indian takeaway. It was really nice, but some was a bit spicy for me - I don't seem to be able to eat food as spicy as used to. Little one loved it and had a bit of everything - there was rice everywhere!
I have a repair man coming this morning to mend the flush on the upstairs loo - it will be the 3rd time it's been 'repaired' in about 3 weeks! Hopefully he'll have the part he needs today.
Then I'm at work at lunchtime though I may go in a little earlier as I have a job needs doing which would be easier if I wasn't looking after children at the same time.
Gers I hope everything goes smoothly back at Glasgow.
well I'd better get on - I need to check my bank .
Hope everyone has a good day10 -

I've booked my lovely 'lent' Dutchman for tomorrow.TA - how wonderful of your DGD to be so pragmatic and comfortable in her own skin. Good for her. 🎇Enjoy your swim Camelot - one day I will get back to it. The local pool here is undergoing total refurbishment and extension.Dp1 - how lovely that your little was happy with Indian food, great tastebuds there.11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. On the last lap now Gers, hope all goes well with the final push, hope you have some help.
Watched Wimbledon yesterday afternoon, just watched the end of the football, There were a couple of incidents I thought were rather iffy, certainly one deserved a red card, however it possibly would not have affected the outcome. Penalty shootouts are a horrible way to decide a game.
DB has a Drs appointment at lunch time to get the results of his blood test and also get his leg checked. It is looking a lot better.
I did a small wash on Friday, so will give it a couple of days before I do a mixed wash. It is cloudy, but the sun is trying to get through, golly it was hot on Saturday.
No complaints about the beef yesterday, It really did not need chewing. Not my preferred way to eat beef really, I like mine pink in the middle.
Cleaner is coming tomorrow, she has a problem with her boiler and the engineer is going today to hopefully fix it. We are going into town, we need to source the gravel for the green house, if we can get it in before the greenhouse is built, it will save a lot of hassle. Hopefully next Saturday will see it up and finished.
Might have egg chips and beans tonight for supper, we have had the last strawberries on our breakfast this morning, there are some rasps in the fridge, could maybe do rasps in jelly.

Morning all,wet here, hoping RR & family are getting a bit better.Gers, last leg now, you've done great, as have you Nanny xWe all watched the match, shame it had to go to penalties but the tournament made a lot of us happy at a time the country needed a boost. My old neighbour wants us to meet up again today but I don't really feel like going out for lunch again- DH & I went out yesterday, and I had meet ups twice last week.Perhaps I'll suggest coffee and a bit of shopping at the retail park.I'm having pasta for tea,men can have breaded chicken, after a late night I need something quick and easy!Bye for now ,take care x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all.
Thanks for the thread Gers and hugs to all those in need.
Dreadful night's sleep, itchy bites, slept with my teeth clenched and painful hands. It's chucking it down here, were supposed to be doing a stock up shop but Steve always shops whilst I stand outside with Beano, I really don't fancy standing in the rain.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.9 -
Mr F has popped out before it rains to restock the freezer with lollies - we like the faux magnu.. from Icelan.
I am planning to cut out circles for spiders today.
I thought I knew where on my computer - there was a very easy crochet snake pattern but can't find it.
I want to make some little bits for the craft fair.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
