I am on eBay managed payments for selling
On buying, my default eBay payment method is my credit card
I only use(d) Paypal for eBay - can anyone think of a reason why I should not close the account?

Quite a lot of web sites offer to accept PayPal, mine included. About half of my buyers choose this over card payments, I assume because they feel more secure if there were to be a problem. On Ebay you can still pay with PP if you want to - the managed payments is what the seller sees regardless of how the sale is funded.

I sell on several FB groups and marketplace and paypal is the expected payment method there.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've removed all cards and unlinked my bank account from PayPal now I'm on managed payments.
When buying on eBay I use Apple Pay now.
If there is a website where the only option is PayPal then I can add a card back on again.
I don't really buy from Facebook/Gumtree, but if I sell on them its usually something bulky (that I can't as easily sell on eBay) and I want cash on collection then.
So you probably could close down PayPal, but there might be some cases where you need it.1 -

It can often be quite a good one.I often use Paypal on other websites for the added buyer protection. It generally doesn't cost the seller any more than the other credit card handlers and is much easier to appeal to should there be a problem with the seller..1 -
Thanks to all.
I decided to close it down - it was surprisingly easy to do. I just clicked on the 'close account' link, got one 'are you sure' pop-up and then it closed. Lots of emails arrived terminating agreements etc and that was that.0
