For people who are fully vaccinated what is the scientific rationale for continuing to subject these individuals to testing on their return to the UK ?

The scientific rationale is that you can still catch it even after being double jagged. I know one such person.

Well you could catch it going to Edinburgh or some other destination with existing high rates within the UK.

A lot of the Green Countries have lower rates than those prevalent in some places at home.

Level of deaths suggests that actual real rates of infection are more prevalent than the testing data suggests.

They are concerned that travellers may bring back a new variant from abroad. if you catch covid in Edinburgh it is going to be a variant we know of.

While vaccination helps it does not stop you getting covid or passing it on.

Uk test far more people  than other countries, therefore figures are bound to be higher.

Positive Day2 tests are routinely tested for variants, I suspect they will stick around for a while for this purpose alone.

These decisions are often political stunts than science back evidential decisions. If people are tested before flights and after arrival, the quarantine for any destination - including red countries does not make sense - especially for vaccinated travellers. Covid can't be eradicated. Now they are saying of 3rd or 4th doses! Travel is going to be the privilege of ultra riches only.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

No it wont as countries such as Spain ,Greece ,Turkey etc cannot survive without tourism so will make it happen for all .

The government would really rather you didn't travel ever again. That's the only way of achieving their climate change targets. Once we've consumed our credit with the companies who refuse a refund, I don't plan to book again any time soon. It's supposed to be a holiday. Will need another one to get over the stress of getting the right test at the right time, from companies who's stock answer is - due to covid we are extremely busy right now - please see our FAQ page for answers.
