I have just listed a laptop accessory givern the ebay 90% offer ( 1.28% fee plus .30p .)
Ive sold very few items, where the few I have sold were all during the first lockdown and all low value .

This item is listed under £30 buy it now

In typing my listing I noted the quantity available was 2 items are for sale which I have .
I have one boxed item that was opened for photos and the other is still sealed both are brand spanking new etc .

How does it work selling multiple items in my case just two ...Im wondering if I have done it right and how it works?
Im really just not 100% sure I have listed the two items to both be sold separately from one listing ?
I guess thats my question ?

Noted the Variation box while doing the listing but never used that as didnt understand what it was for ?

So I have left the listing as it is for now stating two items available  but can always edit it and attempt to just sell one item at a time just relisting  my draft copy ?

Haven't read the terms of the 90% but typically they exclude multi-quantity items.

Your items are effectively in two different conditions, the sealed one is new.

With the other I don't really understand the opening of sealed items to take photos thing that some sellers do as it typically devalues the item significantly, mainly because it draws doubt on whether it's actually new (varies depending upon what it is of course).

Really they should be two separate listings and technically they'd be duplicates (if both were listed as new) so shouldn't be listed at the same time (the second listed after the first sells being the way to do it) but I highly doubt it will matter as the odds of the listings being reported are slim and the odds of eBay bothering to do anything are next to none, just ensure the titles aren't identical.

As above, you are on sticky ground selling 2 items in different condition on a MVL it is likely to go horribly wrong. Also, again as above, you won’t get the promotional rate either as MVL are excluded.

Sell in 2 completely different listings.

also just to add , if you haven’t completed the variations then you are in effect listing 2 completely identical items, both will be for the same price and people can’t choose whether they buy the opened or the sealed one.

Best to end the current listing and then start fresh listings to make sure the promo applies :)

Just do 2 listings , one for the new and one for the opened. Make sure you use the correct photos in the correct listing (easy to pick up the wrong photo!) and Bobs your uncle.

We all get things wrong , at least you spotted it didn’t look right before you sold one. I’m sure many of us on here have done things and haven’t noticed until it’s too late, I certainly have .
