It does work, but as mentioned with the huge volume of complaints referred to them over the last few years, aligned with the obvious issues over the past year or so, they’re experiencing very long delays. It could be that they’re low in case handlers for your type of complaint so it’s taking longer than others.

    they're - 'they are'

Months of correspondence between us and had a final letter  from them saying if I don't agree I can go to FO. So I did and agree with earlier writrers they are a waste of space.

And it might be that the courts are the only altenative at present, but why does Martin recommend a service that provides no service? Instead he could put his weight behind having a service that does work.

How much has it cost you so far?  Nothing.    Just think about how much legal action would take via the course and remember they are way behind as well due to lockdowns.

It provides a very customer-friendly service. If they have rejected your claim it’s probably a fair bet that it has no merit.

Of course, if you a sure that it has then the courts are available as a next step.

Not very customer friendly when they don' t handle  the customers cases in a decent time. If they are shor tof handle r s there is such a thing as recruitment and they have had a year  to do it . If they had rejected my clain it would have meant they had taken the trouble to look at it.

Sorry guys this is not a service let alone a user friendly service.

I whol;eheartedly agree with the other comments on here, they are crop.

Just wonder why you all want to defend something that is clearly as useless as a chocolate fireguard.

You have every right to take it to court, crack on with that and let us know how that goes for you.

Have you tried recruiting staff and training them to the required level during a pandemic?
What do you do with all the extra staff when the backload is finished?

If you think the FOS are slow, then try the courts.

Because some of us live in the real world.

  • Even the Institute of Economic Affairs says
"The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) is unfit for purpose. It is failing to deliver on its primary objectives of “providing fair and reasonable resolution of disputes at speed” and “providing value for money and supporting competition and consumer welfare”. https://iea.org.uk/media/financial-ombudsman-service-needs-major-reform-says-new-research/
    At speed, what a joke.

the real wo rld is that they are failing in their basic duties that they are funded for and also that there is no regulator to the FO, what happened to transparency?

Seems  to me it would be better to have nothing than something that presents as help and does nothing, at least one knows where one stands.

Millions of people have benefitted from the services provided by the FOS.

You cant report me to the FOS.  That is not within their remit.
