Intermittent brake warning light/sound

Have a 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage which has done 23-24k miles.
Yesterday (8/7) I drove about 6 miles in two journeys and most of the time, had a warning beep and sometimes the brake warning light came on. It was very annoying esp as in stop/start traffic for half of the miles I drove
Today, I didn’t have this experience and drove 10 miles in two journeys.
I’m worried that the situation i had on 8/7 will occur again.
What caused this? Anything I can do? Not brilliant in what’s under the bonnet.

Check brake fluid level. Also check for brake fluid leaksI am not a cat (But my friend is)0

When was the last time anyone looked at the brakes?
Low fluid, low brake pads are the obvious two things to look at and do it tomorrow, but not by going to a fast fit centre.
Driving around with brake warnings isn't a good idea.0 -
Will have a look at brake fluid levels in a few days time. I can walk to work0

Carrying on after getting brake warnings is not really a good idea without getting them checked.. Wonder how annoying hitting something when they failed would make you feel...Life in the slow lane0 -
Was it definitely a brake warning? If it was, get them looked at.However, not long after I got the woeful Renault Nissan, I had a frightening intermittent beeping sound all the way to work one morning, that happened whenever I turned a corner. I never got to see what lights came on with it, as I was always too busy with not crashing to look down, and no lights stayed on.Cutting to the chase, it was because I had put my bag on the passenger seat with a couple of extra binders inside. It just wasn't quite heavy enough to register as a person in a straight line, but the slight extra weight from cornering forces was enough to make it register as a passenger, and the beeping was the "The passenger hasn't fastened their seatbelt!!!!!" alarm.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
