Salary sacrifice and maintenance loan

My daughter is due to go to uni in 2022.

I’ve seen on here that if salary sacrifice is used to pay into pension, that can increase the amount of maintenance loan she gets as we’ll reduce our household taxable income. That’s great news as I’m salary sacrificing down to NMW already.

OH is self-employed though. In terms of his money, would the figure that counts towards household income be taxable profits + savings interest - SIPP contributions - gift aid?

thanks
