Car tax & Direct Debits
Options
I set up a direct debit to pay my car tax monthly from my Monzo bank account. I decided I wanted it to come out of My Starling account instead. Couldn't find the option to move direct debits from one bank to another so I just cancelled it.
Went online and set up a new direct debit for the money to come out of the other account, all fine and was sent confirmation of the payment schedule etc etc.
Now I've got an email saying there was not enough money in your account to cover the payment for your car tax and therefore the direct debit mandate has been cancelled and your car is not taxed.
I'm confused as I have a confirmation payment schedule and new payment to start on the 16th July for it to come out of my Starling account, but another email saying its failed and my car isn't taxed
According to DVLA/direct gov thing it still shows my car as currently taxed....have I done something wrong here? This year is the first time I've done all the car things myself as I am usually a named driver so never had to worry about any of this stuff. Thanks in advance!

DVLA will take the payments on the first working day of the month. You cannot change it to a different date.

As per the previous reply, DD payments will be taken on the first working day of the month. Sounds to me like the DD schedule has been set up correctly to come out of your Starling account, but there were insufficient funds available on the 1st July to honour the DD payment. You'll need to make sure the account has sufficient funds available to honour the DD - having the DD schedule set up is all well and good, but it's your responsibility to make sure you've got the cash to cover it.

Does either account show the payment as having been taken?
Was there sufficient balance in the Starling account on 1st July to pay the DD?
Does the DD still show as being live on the Starling account?0
