Bought ebay iPad, still got sellers details on it

I bought a hardly used iPad mini 5 from ebay, received it today and it’s unlocked (no passcode) but has all the sellers apps and photos on it still. I tried to ‘reset all content and settings’ in Settings but it says ‘verification failed. Error connecting to Apple ID server’
Is there an easy way to wipe it, without sending it back to the seller then getting it back again?

I've seen that error when the date/time has been wildly out.1

Hi, just checked and date and time are spot on. Looks like the owner hasn’t wiped/reset it before sending it - hoping there’s a way I can do itTadleyBaggie said:I've seen that error when the date/time has been wildly out.0 -
The seller need to remove it from their apple id account. If you do not have the pasword they cannot do this. They sounds like a ******. Best raise a not as described to get them into action.0

Or just contact the seller first, it may be a genuine mistake.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.2

I doubt its a mistake - most likely the seller simply has no idea whatsoever about any of this and what they needed to do to clear the ipad of all these settings and removing it from their account before selling it.
If so then I'd have no confidence of them being able to do it properly anyway.
So I'd return it for a refund

Contact the seller who I'm sure will be shocked that you can see their personal photos and should want to wipe the iPad equally as fast as you do.

Hi,had the seller established feedback, maybe it was found or even worse stolen?Try seller first for password, they can change password after you've reset it and notified seller.0
